June 30th

When I opened the garage this morning, a gray sprinkly world was waiting. I stood there for a minute, trying to decide if I should go and get wet or try for later.
I went. I mean, it was just a sprinkle. And it actually felt pretty great.
I ran the two miles I've been doing, ran the entire first mile in 9:41 and the second in 10 something. It felt good. My two mile marker is a stop sign. I think the sign gets farther away as I run towards it somehow. It's ridiculous.

I like getting out early in the morning. It's nice to start my day with so much energy.

Rest?

So I have deemed Sunday and Thursday to be my rest days. But, did you know, in the running world, rest is defined as "a 30 minute easy bike ride or some time on elliptical trainer or a brisk walk."
Um, that's not really rest.
But, I did it. I walked for about a bit over a mile in 20 minutes and it felt great. It was cool and breezy at 7:45 when I went and I had my faithful ipod companion. It just felt good to get out and go for a walk.

9:39

That's my starting point.
That's my best time so far for one mile.
It's embarrassing almost, but i have to start somewhere.

This blog will hopefully chronicle in brief snippets my journey to the Capital 10K in Austin, Texas. My dad ran it. And he ran it well. I want to honor him by racing in it, too, almost a decade after his passing.

I'm challenged. I'm motivated. And, honestly, i'm hurting. But tomorrow morning at 7 am - I'll be running!
